Water Court

Water Court is the mechanism by which water rights are adjudicated and therefore officially recognized by the State of Colorado. Water judges are district judges appointed by the Colorado Supreme Court and have jurisdiction in the determination of water rights, the use and administration of water, and all other water matters within the jurisdiction of the water divisions (principally having to do with adjudication and change of point of diversion). There are seven water courts in Colorado.
